I STUBLED UNTO THIS DESIGN WHILE PLAYING AROUND WITH MY 20 METER DIPOLE, THIS TUNER ONLY CONSISTS OF ONE VARIABLE CAPACITOR, ONE STEEL CASE, SOME COPPER WIRE, PL-239 CONNECTORS, AND ONE ALIGATOR CLIP.
BELIEVE THIS OR NOT, BUT THIS TUNER OUTPORFORMS A MFJ-949B VERSA TUNER2 USEING 100 WATTS.
I NOTICED ONE TUNER I HAD HERE WHEN TRYING TO ADJUST SWR, THE TUNER WOULD LOWER THE TRANSMITTER OUTPUT POWER WHILE NOT ALLOWING THE RF TO ESCAPE INTO THE ANTENNA, SO I RIPPED APART THAT TUNER AND BUILT THIS ONE, WHICH THE SWR CAN BE ADJUSTED WHILE ALLOWING FULL RF ENERGY TO GO INTO THE ANTENNA, AND NOT BURN UP IN THE RADIO OR THE TUNER.
YOU WELL HAVE TO PLAY AROUND WITH THE COIL SIZE, AND VARI-CAP.
BUT THIS WELL WORK.

unlike some antenna tuners that require the coil to be grounded and the capicitors to be insulated from ground, this tuner has the coil insulated from ground while the capicitor is grounded.
this works alot better than the grounded coil. try it! you might like it!!
